Birdwatching Activities

Watching steppe birds
Starting at the six LPN owned estates in the middle of the Castro Verde SPA, come and watch unique species of the steppe avifauna in guided bird watching tours either on foot or in all-terrain vehicles.

With 1812ha, this is the largest private area devoted to biodiversity preservation in Portugal; its habitat management ensures high quality observations always accompanied by the specialized technicians of LPN!

These activities are exclusively for LPN associates and can be complemented with others in accordance with the interest of visitors::
Tours of the region’s historic and cultural heritage;
Contact with the local gastronomy and handicrafts, among other activities...

Photo hideouts
The discrete and shy behavior of many birds, particularly steppe birds, makes it difficult for humans to get near them and thus obtain images of these birds.

It is possible to get unique and unforgettable images at the existing photo hideouts in LPN estates in Castro Verde!

       Ground Fixed Hideout

         (for Great bustard*)

        Elevated Fixed Hideout
 (for Lesser kestrel and Roller*)

* It is also possible to get photos of other species as the Little bustard, the Little owl, the Hoopoe, the Partridge, the Montagu’s harrier, the Black-bellied sandgrouse, the Eurasian stone curlew and many others.
