The Sustainable Castro Verde Program’s mission is to ensure the long-term conservation of the Castro Verde cereal steppe and its biodiversity, particularly steppe birds. Its main objectives are:

. To promote the region’s nature conservation and socioeconomic activities in sustainability perspective;
. promote and enable scientific research in the Castro Verde SPA;
. To promote sustainable farming among Castro Verde farmers;
. To promote ecotourism and enable the development of sustainable tourism in the region;
. To promote environmental education and awareness, particularly among the younger generations.
